Meet Jessica: Search Associate

Within moments of meeting Jessica Landry, you’ll know the importance she places on relationships and helping others to thrive. Highly motivated by making connections – with individuals and through matching people to great opportunities—Jessica is a search associate at Pathways, where she’s responsible for finding qualified and talented people who might be a fit for any one of Pathways’ open positions. Which isn’t always easy.

“Often, people will look at the desired skills, qualifications, or education listed on a posting and focus on what they don’t have. And that holds them back.”

She continues, “By creating relationships with candidates, I can find out where their strengths and interests lie, and where there may be possibilities for them to grow into new roles. I can remind them to consider all the learning and mentoring they’ve had over their careers, and the impact of those experiences on who they are and what they have to offer.”

Jessica’s a fitting example of how this works in real life.

After high school, she obtained an educational assistance certificate and went to work with children with special needs. But with summers off in the school year, Jessica needed to find more work. A chance encounter with a Human Resources Director at the gym turned into an administrative job. Six months later, Jessica became an HR assistant and, soon after that, a recruiter. And for the last several years, Jessica has continued to grow her experience, working in the mining, oil and gas, and healthcare sectors, and upgrading her skills and education at every step of the way.

Jessica’s colleague, Wenda Lee Cameron, Director, Administration & Project Management, is quick to highlight the “calm, cool, capable, and unflappable” qualities Jessica brings to the table.

Laurie Sterritt, Pathway’s founder and managing partner, picks up this thread, describing a situation that required all-hands-on-deck where Jessica jumped in, “with thought and logic, helping the team deliver on a complex and time-sensitive project, as if she’d been part of the team for years, not days.”

Laurie continues, “Jessica’s breadth of experience in recruitment and HR has added a lot of value to the team from day one, and I really appreciate her focus and hard work. She listens to understand and then dives into things with gusto!”

A proud Dene Northerner, born and raised in Yellowknife, NWT (Treaty 11 Territory), Jessica now calls northern Alberta home, living a life that continues to reflect her adventurous spirit, upbringing, and the unique challenges and beauty of northern life. She’s got a taste for raw potatoes – a quirky dietary delight that harks back to childhood – and she loves outdoor activities like quadding, camping, and paddleboarding to keep her feeling grounded and refreshed. Jessica also cherishes family time with her partner, stepson, and their Pomeranian, Ricky Bobby (yes, that’s his name, and no, she didn’t choose it!).

We are so grateful to have you on the team, Jessica!
